Things to Consider in the User Interface

There are some important things to look for when reviewing the user screens of an accounting software package, as follows:

1. Consistent look and feel.
2. Attractive, colorful.
3. Fonts that are large enough to read.
4. Icon buttons and spinners that are large enough to easily click on.
5. Well-designed menus, even multiple menus.
6. Tabbed Dialog boxes.
7. Spinners, pull down boxes, and radio buttons.
8. Mouseless data entry.
9. Icons that are understandable, perhaps with tool tips thrown in.
10. Titles that line up, data input fields that line up.
11. Screens that fill the page.
12. The ESC closes the current window and backs you through the system.
13. Hyperlinks that help you drill around.
14. Double clicks that allow you to drill down.
